Som en opfølger til ”Welcome Jonas Pihl”, er det endnu engang tid til, at sige velkommen til en ny kunstner i Gallery Poulsen. Vi har været en tur i New York, hvor vi har hentet endnu et super skarpt navn til repertoiret og er meget stolte over, at kunne præsentere den amerikanske billedkunstner Barnaby Whitfield (født 1972).
Barnaby Whitfield har sine rødder i den del af New York scenen, hvor vi allerede er godt repræsenteret med navne som
Tom Sanford, Aaron Johnson, Debra Hampton og Michael Anderson. De første værker fra Barnaby Whitfield er netop ankommet og I skal glæde jer til hans figurer og karakterer, smukt udført i bløde kridtpasteller. Hans kroppe gløder af et indre lys, men der er noget uhyggeligt og truende der har tag i figurerne, noget sygeligt kigger frem og peger i retningen blå mærker, vold og råddenskab. Det er så præcist og overbevisende udført, at han virkelig kravler ind under huden på beskueren!
Barnaby Whitfield vil fremover være en fast del af galleriets kunstnere og han skal udstille solo i galleriet til forår 2012
Vi byder Barnaby velkommen med gruppeudstillingen ”Before Summer” der ud over Barnaby Whitfield, kan vise nye værker fra Jonas Pihl, Tine Helleshøj, Javier Aguilera (ES) og Lars Grenaae.

As a follow up to “Welcome Jonas Pihl”, it's once again time to say welcome to a new artist in Gallery Poulsen. We have been overseas in New York, and found another super sharp artist for the repertoire. Therefore we proudly presents the American artist Barnaby Whitfield (born 1972)
Barnaby Whitfield has his roots in that part of the New York stage, where we already are well represented with names like
Tom Sanford, Aaron Johnson, Debra Hampton and Michael Anderson. The first works from Barnaby Whitfield has just arrived and you can all look forward to his characters, all endered in gorgeously soft and dreamy chalk pastel, their bodies glowing with eerie internal light, but perversely marred with sickly hues that allude to bruising, rotting, sweltering flesh. Something menacing seems to have a grip on these pastel beauties and the narrative clues are compellingly composed to allow the viewer partial access, but ultimate suspense.
Barnaby Whitfield will be represented by gallery Poulsen in the future and he will exhibit solo in the gallery, spring 2012
We welcome Mr. Whitfield with the group exhibition "Before Summer" in addition to Barnaby Whitfield, we show new works from Jonas Pihl, Tina Helleshøj, Javier Aguilera (ES) and Lars Grenaae.
